Initially, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. I even received my bachelors in legal studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. From there I went on to go to law school for one year at Stetson University during the peak of COVID. Whether it was going through higher education during lockdown or just finding that this was not truly what I wanted to do in my life I decided to not continue pursuing my law degree because I was finding myself wildly unhappy.
Over the next couple months I was working in a remote position for HealthXL and even though this was not what I went to school for I found that I was significantly happier doing literally anything other than law. However, I knew that I wanted to do more and was willing to put in an immeasurable amount of work to get there. I just had to figure out what that was.
After speaking with my sister and brother-in-law (who is also a developer) I was convinced to give coding a shot, after all, I loved building computers and solving problems, so what harm could it do to try? With this new found direction I signed up for a coding bootcamp and hit the ground running. I immediately fell in love with code and knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life, so I gave it my all and then some. I spent every waking moment learning and practicing coding, and I was determined to make a career out of it. I graduated from the bootcamp with a strong foundation in web development, and I was ready to take on the world.
My education is now ever continuing. I have learned several more languages since participating in the bootcamp and can confidently say that I am now a well rounded and proficient web and software developer.
